Zimbabwe

From grassroots to grassroots - TWAM supports Zimbabwean organisations set up by local people to work with local communities. We support projects working with orphans, teenagers needing vocational training, schools without books or computers, marginalised peoples, vulnerable women, impoverished communities and displaced peoples.
We currently send between one and two containers of tools and equipment to Zimbabwe a year. We work with churches, schools, and charities committed to improving the lives of their own people. Our partner is the Jonpris Foundation, based in Harare.

Story - Apostolic Church Faith Training Centre
This year, the Apostolic Faith Church has continued to grow its skills training programme, building on the tools received from TWAM.
In 2025, the centre successfully trained 22 sewing students, 17 welding students, and 4 mechanics students. They will be ready to graduate next year when the new tools arrive. One of them is Abigail, who writes “I joined the sewing program with the sole aim of one day feeding my family. I sew clothes for my family, relatives, neighbors and for clients as well. My family now affords 2 or 3 meals every day. I can never fully stop appreciating what TWAM has done for me. It’s not just about the tools, but it’s more about hope in life itself. I am forever grateful to TWAM.”
The church is also proud to include students with disabilities in this training group. They hold strongly to the belief that “disability is not inability.” These students are learning alongside their peers and will receive tools as soon as the next shipment is delivered.
Additional tools will help the church run projects more effectively and expand opportunities for new learners in the community.
Apply for tools
We do not charge for specific tools or tool kits, but we do ask that you contribute a small amount towards the UK cost of collecting, refurbishing and packing the tools we send to Africa.
The Online Application form below will show you the cost of the tools you are applying for. Before completing your application, please think about the cost and whether you can afford it. If you cannot, please reduce the number of tools you are applying for at this time to a cost you can afford. You can apply again another time for more tools. By applying for less tools rather than waiting to raise a larger amount, you will not have to wait so long for the delivery of the tools you need.
What you need to know:
We will let you know that we have received your application.
You will then receive a phone call from our Zambia team to assess your application.
Following this we will tell you whether or not your application is successful.
We will then tell you when your tools will arrive, and where to collect them from.
After you have had your tools for one year, we will carry out an assessment to make sure you are using your tools as you agreed in your application.
